CNPS Welcomes CRPNBC and Registered Psychiatric Nurses of BC


August 9, 2018 – The Canadian Nurses Protective Society (CNPS) is pleased to announce that the members of the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC) will become beneficiaries of the CNPS on November 1, 2018.

“Since 1988, the CNPS has been supporting Canadian nurses with comprehensive legal advice, risk management education and legal assistance in an increasingly complex healthcare environment,” said CNPS President Mary Ellen Gurnham. “We are pleased to welcome the registered psychiatric nurses of British Columbia to the CNPS family, which represents more than 130,000 nurses across Canada.”

“As the regulatory body responsible for registered psychiatric nurses in the province, the CRPNBC has a mandate to ensure that the public receives quality care and mental health services from all RPNs in B.C.,” said Kyong-ae Kim, CEO of the CRPNBC.   “With the CNPS as our professional liability provider, registered psychiatric nurses in B.C. will now have access to comprehensive programs and services to help them reduce risk in their nursing practice, which supports our public safety and regulatory mandate.” 

Beginning November 1, 2018, all registered psychiatric nurses in B.C. will have access to the professional liability programs and services offered through the CNPS, which includes legal advice, risk-management services, legal assistance and professional liability protection.
