CNPS Celebrates National Nursing Week 2024

Canadian Nurses Protective Society > CNPS Celebrates National Nursing Week 2024

The Canadian Nurses Protective Society (CNPS) is proud to celebrate National Nursing Week from May 6th to the 12th. This year, the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) has identified the National Nursing Week theme as Changing Lives. Shaping Tomorrow. which acknowledges the significant impact that nurses have on our communities and healthcare system every day.

Nursing is at the heart of our healthcare system, making a meaningful difference in the lives of countless individuals every day. Beyond their role in patient care, nurses act as innovators and advocates, ensuring that the voices of the most vulnerable are heard. Furthermore, the enthusiasm for learning among nurses and nursing students not only empowers them to navigate the ever-changing healthcare landscape but also plays a pivotal role in shaping its future – which does not go unnoticed.

As continuing education remains a cornerstone of nursing practice, we will be once again hosting a Nursing Week webinar, “Legal Considerations when Working with Clients with Substance Use Disorders.” Taking place on May 9th and 16th, this webinar will introduce attendees to some of the legal principles that are applicable to situations that nurses working in the field of substance use disorders may encounter. A message from our CEO

To the nursing community,

As National Nursing Week unfolds, it’s with immense gratitude that the CNPS celebrates you for the tremendous impact you continue to make on patients, communities, and the healthcare system. This week offers an opportunity to reflect on the crucial work nurses do every day for all of us.

The Canadian Nurses Association theme of Changing Lives. Shaping Tomorrow. is an apt theme for 2024. We have seen this theme consistently in your leadership, your dedication, and your adaptability. While you are asked to do more with sometimes limited resources, you continue to deliver excellent patient care, setting the stage for the future of nursing.

We encourage you to keep an eye on our Facebook and LinkedIn pages this week as we share CNPS resources. We are also offering a Nursing Week webinar, “Legal Considerations when Working with Clients with Substance Use Disorders,” on May 9th and 16th, for which registration is now open.

The CNPS was designed by nurses, for nurses, to meet the professional liability needs of nurses in all professional nursing roles. As a CNPS beneficiary, you can always call us for confidential, personalized legal advice should you encounter an issue or have a risk-management question related to your nursing practice. We are also proud to offer resources to support nurse educators, nursing students, and nurses looking to continue their education.

Thank you to the incredible nurses whose care and innovation transforms communities every day. You continue to stand at the forefront of healthcare, leaving a profound mark on the lives you touch. Happy Nursing Week!

Chantal Léonard, CEO
